Loading and Unloading

Here are a few shots of the kilns, both our mini and middle round size.One hundred little porcelain peanuts! These cute little guys are prizes for the Chevaux de Bois installation at Come Up To My Room at the Gladstone Hotel in January 2010.
Each peanut is hand cast from an Ontario grown peanut, over 35 unique peanuts were chosen for our molds.
The peanuts are fired right to cone six for a subtle but attractive bare porcelain surface.

These little guys were modeled after a 1940's chalkware carnival prize. The two coloured ones are the tests for Speedball coloured underglazes. Bright and tacky, I hope. Puppies are peanuts are taking over the studio.
