Ideas, Models and Prototypes
The next two weeks at the rcboisjoli studios are going to be laden with the casting of several large fixtures for an exciting commission. It's tough work, as the fixtures are very fragile and very large. They take up the whole studio and need lots of attention, but since most of that time is waiting for items to cure and set, we’ll be taking some time to explore some prototyping on the plaster lathe.
Eggs cups, new plates, items that pour and even a handled cup are on the mind currently. The picture below features a handsome egg cup, by the former Coe & Waito team that is simple amazing. I doubt ours will be anything like it, but those scalloped edges are awe inspiring. (all hand carved too)
