Casting Feet
Sometimes a little edit is all you need to make something ugly look much better. The plate on the left was turned, molded and cast first. The footring was built right into the sides of the plate and made a well that showed right through on the face. It was too big and sucked up too much slip.
The plate on the right was cast from a mold that was based on the same model, with a bit of an edit. The footring was cut in, making it much smaller and adding a better detail to the foot. This is the first cast from the new mold and we’ll have to wait until it's bisqued, glazed and fired again before we can fully see tell if it’s just right.
